
Fire & Feast: Outdoor Cookery
Master the art of cooking over open flames in a beautiful countryside setting.
Class Description
Join us for a memorable day of outdoor cooking in our orchard, surrounded by trees, birdsong, and the scent of woodsmoke. Using our fire bowl and traditional asado-style equipment, we’ll teach you how to cook meat, fish, and seasonal vegetables over open fire - learning how to work with heat, flame and smoke to create food that’s deeply flavourful and wonderfully simple. We’ll also prepare a range of vibrant sauces and side dishes to complement the grilled feast - think chimichurri, zesty dressings and bold seasonal salads. Expect a relaxed, hands-on day full of good food, fresh air, and friendly chat. This class is ideal for small groups (up to 8 people) and makes a brilliant experience for friends, families, or team get-togethers. No prior experience needed - just a love of food and a willingness to get a little smoky. Quick details • Location: our orchard in Motcombe, Dorset • Duration: 6 hours, including cooking and dining • Age minimum: adults only.15 to 17 year olds welcome, but must book with a supervising, paying adult. • How it works: you watch Laura demonstrate the dishes, ask questions, then sit down together to share the meal. • Dietaries: please let us know about any dietary requirements before booking and we can advise you on the suitability of the class, adapt the menu or, if necessary, suggest alternative classes. • Recipes: take home all the recipes and a detailed timing plan to help you recreate the dishes at home. What to expect • Welcoming drinks on arrival. • Easy-to-follow demonstration hosted by chef Laura Pope, you’ll learn how to make a whole meal that feels abundant, without lots of kit • All ingredients, equipment, lunch & drinks included. • Printed recipe packs, tips and timings to take home. • My classes are limited to just 8 people (book alone or as a group) to keep things personal, interactive and easy to follow. Whether you’re new to cooking or looking for fresh ideas, this is laid-back and encouraging with no pressure and zero cheffy intimidation. • You’re free to join in, observe, ask questions or simply enjoy the process - it’s about building confidence, creativity and joy in the (outdoor) kitchen. You'll learn how to make • Creamy smoky aubergine Caesar dip and flatbreads • Chargrilled ribeye with crispy brioche salad, rocket and grilled dates • Wood-fired fresh fish (seasonal) with herby salsa • Seasonal griddled vegetables with sesame-sage dressing • Ember roasted butternut squash with pumpkin seed pesto


















Cancellation Policy
Bookings and cancellations for public classes and individuals: If you need to cancel or reschedule a booking you must do this by emailing us (by email to laura@laurapope.co.uk or via the ‘Contact’ page) at least 7 days before the date of your class and you will be given a new date or a full refund for the cooking class. We are sorry that we will be unable to refund or reschedule a cooking class with less than 7 days’ notice. Bookings and cancellations for private group events: In the event that you cancel your booking in full, our refund policy is as follows: • If you give us 6 weeks’ or more notice prior to the booking date, we will refund 100% of your payment. • If you give us less than 6 weeks’ notice and at least 4 or more weeks’ notice prior to the booking time, we will refund 50% of your payment. • If you give us less than 4 weeks’ notice we are unable to offer any refunds. For amending the date of bookings: • More than 21 days notice, no charge will apply. • Between 10 – 20 days, 25% of the full class price will be charged. • Between 4 – 9 days, 50% of the full class price will be charged. • 3 days or less, 100% of the full class price will be charged. You may request to increase the number of participants by contacting us by email or phone at least 2 weeks prior to the booking date, in which case we will do our best to accommodate you; however, any increase to the class size is entirely at our discretion. In the event that we agree to increase the number of participants, you must pay the additional cost per participant immediately. Final numbers and dietary requirements for your class must be confirmed no later than 2 weeks prior to the start time of the cookery class in order to give us enough time to pre-order the necessary ingredients, staff and planning.
